Spencer was playing with his suit coat on with shorts. I asked him to take it off & he said he couldn't because he was being a president. I asked which one. He said, "President Uchtdorf, " & that he would be giving a talk tomorrow at the family reunion at the park. :-D

Lisa's Family History Display
I had a presentation table at our Relief Society Family History Night. Michael Berger let me borrow some of his Shadow Boxes, but the rest is mine - separated into categories.
GAMES, JOURNALS/LIFE HISTORIES, COLLECTIONS, FUNERAL BOOKS/REMEMBERANCES, ART & MUSIC, CRAFTS, CALENDARS, FOR THE KIDS, & FAMILY TREES

A Twist on Gratitude
We had a family night lesson about saying things we're grateful for in our prayers. We took turns talking about what we were grateful for that day.
Spencer: "I'm grateful for I got to play with Little Jared and ride my bike outside." (He didn't get to do either one that day).
Emma: "I'm grateful that I can have the Holy Ghost and I know that I feel the Spirit right here in my heart," (as she put her hand gently over her heart).
Meg: "I'm grateful that I could smell the chicken nugget smell coming from Burger King when I was at recess today!"

SPACE
Spencer and Emma were running around pretending to be on a ship in space. They ran back & forth making spaceship sounds and acting like they were floating. All of a sudden, Spencer fell down & crashed on accident. He jumped right back up & said, "Woah - I fell down in space!"

Spencer's Halloween Nickname
Spencer was Bob the Builder for Halloween. He decided while he was trick-or-treating that he liked being called, "Bobbity Boo."

Spencer's Yucky Prayer
Spence was saying our family prayer and bringing up all kinds of odd things. But then he said, "Please bless my runny nose so this can come off." I opened my eyes and peeked at him and he was picking his nose. As he continued to pray, I watched him wipe it into the carpet with one long finger wipe. My face wrinkled up and I looked at Kirk - his shoulders were shaking and he was peeking at me with the same wrinkly face. I lost it and we were both laughing in silence through the rest of the prayer. Emma and Meg had no idea. Maybe Heavenly Father was laughing along with us. Little boys are cute - but they can be really gross!

Spencer's Puppy
Spence loves his little toy puppy and calls it "Firetruck Puppy." He has another one just like it that is orange. He named that one "Orange," but it sounds like oi-yange.

Spencer Loves Fire Trucks!
Spencer goes around telling everyone he sees that he saw a firetruck outside. People at the grocery store, at church, even people walking by outside our house.
He sings, "I've Got A Dream" from Tangled. His version: "I got a dream, firetruck got a dream," etc.

Emma's Brain
Lisa - "Emma, you figured it out. That was really smart!"
Emma - "Well . . . I do have a medium brain, you know."

Goofy Kids
Yesterday while driving in the car, we heard three strange things in succession:
Meg - "I'm going to start a bat home for homeless bats in the area."
Emma - (With her shoe off, rubbing her foot) "Mom, my foot has the cranks!"
Spencer - Kept saying he saw an "elephant - outside" the window.

Windstorm Devestation
Our neighborhood had a massive windstorm a few weeks ago - here are just some examples of the damage. These are all from our ward boundaries. Pretty much every house or block looked like this, and that's what made it so weird. We only had a few pieces of undersiding come off our eaves, and our yard was littered with shingles and other people's things.

Spencer & the Lemon Juice
At dinner, Emma was using lemon juice for her salad dressing. Spencer wanted to drink some juice, so Kirk put some of the lemon juice in his cup. He drank it and started doing the pucker with his lips, then it spread to his eyes, then to his whole face. Pretty soon he was doing full body-shudders over and over. He kept going, too - we thought he was finished and he would do it again. He kept on for at least two minutes, during which the rest of the family was in stitches laughing at him. At first he looked like he was going to cry, but then he got a smile on his face (in between shudders) and said, "Lemon Juice - funny!" It was almost a complete sentence, which is pretty good for his speaking level. Then we were all laughing again, of course. Wish we had a video.
